Jan Chronister

Jan Chronister has been trying to figure things out through poetry since she was in high school. Her short, lean poems have been called “exquisite, gorgeous, and brainy.”

Jan’s work appears in numerous state, regional and national journals and anthologies. She has won awards from Lake Superior Writers, the Tallgrass Writers Guild, Highland Park Poetry, the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, and League of Minnesota Poets.

Jan’s first chapbook Target Practice was published by Parallel Press at the University of Wisconsin in 2009. Casualties, a chapbook of Holocaust poems, was published in 2017. Her full-length collection Caught between Coasts was released by Clover Valley Press in 2018 and was recognized as an Outstanding Achievement in Poetry by the Wisconsin Library Association. A third chapbook, Bird Religion, was published in 2019.

To date, Jan has authored three full-length collections, as well as twelve chapbooks, several of which have won awards. Now retired from teaching, Jan publishes fellow poets under the imprint of Poetry Harbor.

Jan and her husband split their year between northern Wisconsin and southern Georgia. They tend numerous vegetable and flower gardens in both locales. More about Jan and her work can be found at her website by clicking here.

Truth Serum Press published Jan’s poetry collection Decennia in August 2020.
